Hello Mamas!
I am a mother of three children and a Registered Nurse with over 10 years of mental health clinical experience. I've been teaching mental health for the University of British Columbia Okanagan since 2013 and I am ready to share my story and help fellow mothers with their wellbeing.
Since becoming a mother I have experienced anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Our second child was born with a genetic condition called Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome. Her intestines were on the outside of her body and she required abdominal surgery and tongue reduction surgery. I've also experienced three postpartum hemorrhages and an IUD that led to a punctured bowel & emergency surgery. I have also experienced the normal challenges of the motherhood journey: Guilt and shame, trying to be the "best mother", managing a career while raising children, the ambivalence of wanting my children close yet needing my own space, as well as relationship changes between myself and my husband, family and friends.
Although I've always been an optimistic person, I began my journey in mental health because I was seeking happiness. I now know that happiness is only a part of wellbeing. As we go through this journey of motherhood we need CONNECTION and SUPPORT with the right TOOLS to learn how to thrive.
Using my personal experiences and clinical background, I have developed a course that can help you with your wellbeing.
